Our mission
Level the playing field in education.
Where a student ends up after high school still depends far too much on what their family can afford and who they happen to know. Some students have a counselor with time for them, a tutor for every hard class, and a consultant walking them through applications. Most students have a counselor responsible for hundreds of others, and not much else.
That gap shows up everywhere: in grades, in test scores, in the quality of an application, in whether a student even believes a certain school is for them. We do not think talent is distributed that unevenly. Opportunity is.
LumiSource exists to close that gap. We build the guidance, practice, and feedback that used to require money or connections, and we put it in front of every student for free or for less than the price of a textbook.

Today the platform covers college admissions, AP®, and the digital SAT®, with more on the way. Everything we add is judged by the same question: does it help a student who would otherwise be on their own?

Access comes first.
If a student cannot afford it, it does not level anything. The core of LumiSource is free, and anything we charge for is priced so a high school student can pay for it themselves.

Honesty over comfort.
Students are surrounded by tools and people that tell them what they want to hear. We tell them where they actually stand and what to do about it, clearly and without cruelty.

Students do the work.
We do not write essays, do homework, or promise admission. We make students better at the things they have to do themselves. Anything else would be cheating them, and the people reading their work.

Privacy is not a feature.
A student's essays, grades, and goals are theirs. We do not sell them, share them with schools, or use them to train AI models, and students can delete everything at any time. Read our privacy policy

Our users are high school students, most of them the first in their family to go through this process, or the only one in their school aiming where they are aiming. They come to us for AP help in sophomore year and stay through their last supplement.
Parents use LumiSource to understand a process that has changed completely since they went through it, and to see where their child stands without having to ask. Counselors and teachers point students to us when they cannot give everyone the time they wish they could.
Students who have used LumiSource have been admitted to every top-10 university in the country, and to hundreds of schools beyond them.
